Sean Casey & Tara Mazurk from Global Public Affairs
Sean Casey (Vice-President) is a leading arts and culture sector practitioner and has an extensive background in dealing with intellectual property and copyright issues. Sean works with a variety of organizations representing the film, television, music, publishing, performing arts and not-for-profit sector to both examine and access funding programs available to them, working with them on complex issues within the Heritage, Industry, Finance and International Trade portfolios.
Sean joined Global Public Affairs after eight years as a partner with another leading public affairs firm. Prior to that he served in various senior positions on Parliament Hill for almost a decade, with three Members of Parliament, the Opposition House Leader and in the Office of the Leader of the Opposition.
A former journalist, and graduate of the Carleton University School of Journalism, Sean is active in coaching and coordinating various youth sports teams in the Ottawa area.
Tara Mazurk (Senior-Consultant) is a member of the Cultural Industries team in the Ottawa office, providing a wide range of government relations supports to organizations in the Canadian arts and culture sector.
Prior to joining Global, Tara was the staff Curator to launch Humber College’s Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre and the Engagement Coordinator for the Ontario Nonprofit Network. She also was a Consultant for Canadian Artists’ Representation Ontario, researching and writing toolkits for issues affecting Ontario visual and media artists.
A regular volunteer on multiple arts and non-profit advisories and boards, she is currently a co-founder of Mass Culture, an initiative to build a nation-wide cultural policy research network.
Tara studied at the University of Toronto, with a BA (Hons) Specialist degree in Arts Management and a Minor in Studio Art.
